Here Are Two DIY Projects That Your Kids Absolutely Will Love

It can be difficult to keep the kids entertained, especially during longer school breaks in the winter and summer. No matter what time of year it is, though, you will have exhausted your usual list of kid-friendly movies, books, and board games at one point or another. But, have you tried a DIY-inspired craft or two with your kiddo? If the answer is no, then check out one or both of these kid-approved crafts below. Not only are they fun to make as a family, but each is also budget-friendly and uses common household items.

Magnetic Tic Tac Toe

  • Cardboard
  • Magnets
  • Glue gun
  • Marker
  • A large magnetic surface, like your fridge

Cut out circles out of cardboard. You need 10 of them. Then, using a marker draw five Xs and five Os. Flip the cardboard circles over and, using hot glue, attach the magnet pieces. To play Tic Tac Toe, use a dry-erase marker to draw a big hashtag sign on the fridge and let the fun begin.

Glitter Playdough

  • 1 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 2 tablespoons cream of tartar
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • Food coloring of your choice
  • 1 tube of colored glitter

Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine oil and water, and slowly pour into dry ingredients. Mix until dough comes together. Add coloring and glitter and knead. Refrigerate until cool or break into small balls and play with immediately.
